Armorial Families
Claude Paget, Com. (ret.) R.N., b. 1851; d. 1917; m. 1880, Theodosia. d. of John Henry Parnell of Avondale.

Commander Claude Paget RN was a club member who had much success in the early years winning the open Singles Trophy for the third time in 1912, thereby becoming its permanent owner. Tragically the Croquet Gazette of February 1917 reported that “while skating on the Broadwater Lake at Oakwood Park, near Weybridge, Commander Paget was unaccompanied and had covered the full half a mile when, at the Walton end, the ice gave way near the bank under the trees. No one saw him disappear ………only his pipe, stick and box of matches were visible on the surface of the ice.”
