Arthur, a student at the inns of court and a friend of W. M. Thackeray, died of consumption at the age of twenty-five.

Arthur was called as a barrister in the Inner Temple, at Michaelmas Term, 1832 (The Legal Observer - 1832)

He and his brothers were school friends of Thackeray; he is said to have been the original of 'Arthur Pendennis.' Died Dec. 31, 1833. Brother of the above, of George E. Regarded by his contemporaries as the original of Arthur Pendermis. Brother of George, 1827 ; and Alfred, 1835.
