1851 Census: Ellen was three years old and living at South Allington House.
1861 Census: Ellen was 13 years old and having tuition at home at South Allington House.
In 1862 - when the will of Nicholas Pitts was executed - she was ackowledged and living at South Allington.
1871 Census: Ellen was at Lower Knole, presumably with her sister Anne.
In the 1881 Census, she was a visitor at Stoke Villa, in Stokefleming at the home of the Cornish family at Blackawton together with her sister Louisa Prettejohn Pitts. A Louisa Harris, aged 20, is also at this address. She is probably Elizabeth Prettejohn Pitts (Harris's) neice.
In the 1891 Census she was a visitor at 4 Spencer Terrace in Plymouth, home of the Langford family. She was there with two of her three children, Geoffrey and Arthur Seaton, visiting her brother and sister-in-law, . She was reported as living on her own means. At the same census her husband, William Seaton remained at home with their one year old baby, Ellen. The home address was the Bristol and West of England Bank, 12 Fore St, Kingsbridge. His occupation was described as a Bank Manager.
