Elizabeth de Chanval Pellier
A court action in New York in 2005-6. The complainant, an Elizabeth de Chanval Pellier, the respondent, British Airways. The issue, sexual discrimination. I have the full case notes if you want them. So who was Elizabeth de Chanval Pellier? At the time of the case, she had worked for BA for 30 years. She would have been born post WW2 – but, as far as we knew there was only one child from the marriage to Winifred Pitts, which was Léonore. The answer was in an obituary in the Times, Tuesday, June 18, 1946 for Charles de Chanval where it states that “On June 13, 1946, passed away very peacefully, Charles de Chanval Pellier, of Highleigh, Teignmouth, beloved husband of Dorothy (née Hatton)…..” – So there was a second marriage!! Given the age of Elizabeth de Chanval, she could be the daughter of a son of the second marriage or the wife of that son. Need to follow that one up. There is also a suggestion that she was in the U.S. in 2005.
